Home

This file records how the current source set should be used, and resolves conflicts between sources. Read it before extracting from any source.

Current sources live in raw/. Dated decision records live in raw/decisions/.

Current sources

raw/semblance_business_positioning.md

  • Type: business-reference
  • Updated: 30 July 2026
  • Authority: high for business facts, audience, offers, positioning, proof, market context and messaging principles
  • Notes:
  • 14 numbered sections. Section numbering changed at the 30 July rewrite; citations to the earlier numbering are not valid.
  • Records the future domain as semblance-studios.com, purchased and awaiting the website and email transfer.
  • §9 states that the size of the buyer audience has not been independently verified. Do not repeat estimates of global decision-maker numbers.
  • §11 carries the canonical "claims to avoid" list.

raw/semblance_site_content.md

  • Type: approved-copy
  • Updated: 30 July 2026
  • Authority: highest for exact public website copy
  • Notes:
  • Navigation is HOME · PROJECTS · THE WORK · CREATIVE DIRECTOR · CONTACT. There is no Process page.
  • Singita and Rockefeller case-study copy are marked Placeholder and remain incomplete.
  • Sections are named, not numbered. Cite them by name.

raw/semblance_build_spec.md

  • Type: technical-specification
  • Updated: 30 July 2026
  • Authority: high for site structure, behaviour, placeholders and implementation direction
  • Notes:
  • 18 numbered sections. Replaces the earlier June 2026 build specification, which is no longer present in the repository and must not be cited.
  • It is explicitly a flexible working brief, not a locked specification. The homepage content sequence in §5 is a starting point that may be reordered during prototyping.
  • Do not ingest tooling choices or implementation detail into general brand-positioning articles.

design.md

  • Type: technical-specification
  • Authority: current visual direction, once a decision has been tested and recorded
  • Notes:
  • Registered because CLAUDE.md names it in the website document precedence.
  • Where the BuildSpec and design.md differ, the most recently tested and recorded visual direction applies.

Decision records

Stored in raw/decisions/. They provide traceable history. They do not override the current authoritative documents unless the decision has been integrated into them.

raw/decisions/2026-07-26-user-decisions.md

  • Type: user-decision
  • Authority: highest for the decisions recorded
  • Use for: current business status, age, primary offer and delivery boundaries
  • Notes: supersedes the obsolete "side hustle" framing and the "approximately four years" age.

raw/decisions/2026-07-27-one-word-decision.md

  • Type: user-decision
  • Authority: highest for the decisions recorded
  • Use for: the provisional Misfit and Belonging pair recorded in wiki/identity/positioning.md
  • Notes: an internal lens only. Not a slogan, not website copy and not a named method. Misfit is an unverified hypothesis and must not be asserted as client pain.

raw/decisions/2026-07-28-user-decisions.md

  • Type: user-decision
  • Authority: highest for the decisions recorded
  • Use for: Semblance's role relative to parameters supplied by the project team, and the Singita selection
  • Notes: records that dimensions, placement, format and artwork count are generally fixed upstream, and that HK Design Studio selected the Singita works. Decision 1 is recorded but not yet integrated into articles.

No longer active

  • Brand Wiki.md — removed from the repository on 30 July 2026. It explained the wiki concept only and was never brand evidence. Not an active source.
  • semblance_business_positioning_2026-05.md, semblance_site_content_2026-05.md, semblance_build_spec_2026-06.md — superseded by the 30 July rewrites above and removed from the repository. Do not cite them.
