Secondary Artwork Services

Existing artwork placement, adaptation and licensing are established parts of the Semblance offer.

These services are commercially distinct from fully original custom commissions. They may involve existing artwork used substantially as created, or artwork developed further to suit the requirements of a specific project.

Hospitality artwork selection

Semblance may offer selected artworks from Gavin Goodman's broader bodies of work that are not included in his official gallery catalogue.

These works may come from the same series as gallery-represented artworks, but remain outside the formal catalogue connected to his fine-art practice and gallery representation.

They may be made available selectively for hospitality and commercial interior projects.

Gallery-represented artworks must not be included without checking their representation, availability and approval status.

Placement

Placement applies where an existing artwork is selected and licensed for a project with little or no material creative change.

Confirmed examples include:

• selected existing works placed at Singita Safari Lodges via HK Design Studio
• a large-scale placement at the Rockefeller Hotel

These projects must be described accurately as placements or licensed uses of existing artwork, not as custom commissions.

Adaptation

Adaptation applies where an existing artwork becomes the starting point for further development around a project brief.

This may include changes to:

• background
• colour palette
• format
• scale
• composition
• surrounding visual elements

A recent Artlink cruise project provides confirmed evidence of this service. Selected works from the broader Ensundu series, which were not part of the official gallery catalogue, were adapted through changes to their backgrounds and presentation.

The completed artworks were licensed for approximately 2,000 state-room reproductions.

Adaptation should be priced according to the extent of the creative work required, together with the licensing and reproduction scope.

Commercial terms

Placement and adaptation are licensed per project.

Website treatment

PROVISIONAL — How existing artwork, hospitality selections, placements and adaptations appear on the Semblance website remains unresolved.

Resolve after The Work section and Creative Director page are built and reviewed.

The Work section is a visual reference for the studio's creative range. It must not be conflated with the separate commercial services of existing-artwork placement, adaptation and licensing.
