Classification: user-decision

Adopted by Gavin Goodman on 2026-07-27 during the One Word exercise.

Adopted pair (provisional)

  • Provisional problem word: Misfit
  • Provisional solution word: Belonging

Status and basis

  • Belonging is supported by evidence across existing-work placement, adaptation and custom commission. It is origin-neutral: a commissioned work, an adapted work and a selected existing work can each belong completely.
  • Misfit remains a hypothesis. No representative client language has been reviewed, so it must not be asserted as outward-facing client pain.
  • The pair is an internal lens only. It is not a slogan, not an outward-facing client-pain claim, and not a named method.

Decision history

  • Unresolved → Resolution was initially adopted provisionally during the same exercise, then reversed before any file changes were made.
  • It was rejected for two reasons: 1. Resolution conflicts with Semblance's recurring technical language around high-resolution image files. 2. Unresolved → Resolution is circular and therefore not a useful strategic test. It describes completion but provides no meaningful failure condition.
  • Misfit → Belonging was then adopted provisionally as the stronger internal lens.
