Scope and Exclusions
Place in the procurement process, responsibility limits, and the canonical copyright and licensing policy.
Normal Semblance scope
- creative interpretation of the brief
- art direction
- artwork concept development
- review-ready mockups and presentations
- creation and revision of approved artwork
- delivery of high-resolution, production-ready artwork files at agreed specifications
- licensing and reproduction terms defined per project
Place in the procurement process
Semblance normally works as the artwork-creation partner within a broader procurement process.
For most international projects, the art procurement or consultancy firm manages the direct relationship with the end client and normally arranges printing, framing, shipping and installation.
Semblance's core responsibility is the development and delivery of the approved artwork files together with the rights granted under the project agreement.
Additional services by agreement
The following may be arranged where relevant and confirmed in the proposal:
- printing and framing
- shipping
- local installation oversight
- coordination with production or installation partners
These services are not included automatically. Their availability depends on the project location, supplier availability and agreed scope.
For international projects, printing, framing, shipping and installation will usually remain the responsibility of the procurement firm, production partner or end client.
Outside Semblance's responsibility
Unless specifically agreed in writing, Semblance does not take responsibility for:
- the end client's wider project schedule or property opening date
- delays caused by printers, framers, shipping providers, installers or other third-party suppliers
- work carried out by third-party suppliers
- installation outside the agreed local oversight scope
- costs or changes arising after the approved artwork files have been delivered
Any expanded responsibility must be defined clearly in the project scope, pricing and agreement.
Copyright, licensing and reproduction rights
Copyright is usually retained by Semblance.
Licensing and reproduction rights are defined per project and may include quantity, dimensions, intended use, territory, duration and exclusivity.
Full copyright buyout may be agreed where commercially appropriate and separately priced.
